With New York State, County, and pharmacy-based vaccination centers distant from East Hampton, and appointments virtually impossible to obtain, East Hampton Town has outfitted the former Child Development Center of the Hamptons school building in Wainscott as a town-run vaccination center, and is trying to secure a regular supply of vaccine.
On February 13, we became the first town to have successfully lobbied Suffolk County for an allotment of vaccine doses, and we were able to get 332 local residents vaccinated at the center. The doses we received from the County for that day could only be given to NYS-designated “Phase 1B” essential workers as per the Governor’s order.
Vaccine supplies remain limited, and the number of vaccine-eligible residents far exceeds statewide vaccine supply at present. However, the town is hoping to receive additional vaccine allotments and to be able to offer them to other eligible categories, including the over-65 population, right here in our own community.
There is currently no waiting list or enrollment for vaccinations at the town’s site. We will make an announcement should this change. Please monitor the Town of East Hampton website, at EHamptonny.gov, our town Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages, town board meetings on LTV channel 22, and local papers for information.
In the meantime, please check the websites of other vaccination sites listed here /DocumentCenter/View/7849/Suffolk-County-Distribution-Sites-22021 for available appointments.
