The Town of East Hampton is completed a restoration of the Louse Point Road parking area and beach access for stormwater abatement and control.  Significant erosion at the inlet caused deterioration of the north sand dune and resulted in excess asphalt overhanging the top of the dune.  Lack of stormwater retention also caused erosion of the parking area and walking paths.

The Town completed a restoration to remove the excess pavement overhanging the dune and stabilized the area through a revegetation with native plantings without blocking the view of Accabonac Harbor and Gardiner's Bay.  The parking area was re-graded to include a berm to reduce runoff and erosion to the dune by directing the stormwater to flow to a pervious parking area where washed quartz was installed to replace the existing asphalt millings.

The goal of this project is to maintain the character of the area while incorporating improvements for water quality and functionality.

Work was completed as of December 2022.
